MITEF: A mine of knowledge for start-ups

When at the beginning of October we qualified for the 5th edition of the MIT Enterprise Forum Poland Start-up Accelerator, we did not know what to expect from the programme. Now, after 5 workshop modules we do realise how valuable is the experience that one can gain participating in the meetings. Each start-up, especially at an early stage, should have this knowledge!

During the last 5 meetings we have learnt how to effectively cooperate in the mentor-start-up formula, what the function-oriented reverse search is all about, why the protection of intellectual property is so important, how to start a business in the US market, what to focus on while planning the company branding, and how the customer acquisition process looks like, including in the e-commerce environment. We also had a chance to consult lawyers.

In our opinion, a particularly valuable item in the agenda was the Pitch Academy where we learnt how to prepare and deliver the presentation of our technology proposal to investors and what language to use while facing a target client. We also prepared the sales and financing strategy in line with the MITEF guidelines, and although we had already had many documents prepared before, we could confront our assumptions with the theory and thus optimise our further business steps. We could also source the opinions of Polish and international experts, as well as the programme participants themselves, which really meant a lot to us.

We are looking forward to the last meeting where, after 1-minute presentations, a shortlist of 10 companies will be compiled that will make it to the next stage of acceleration.

Please keep your fingers crossed for us!
